Background

Cummins and Stellantis have announced the launch of a new 2025 6.7L engine paired with the RAM lineup of pickup and chassis cab heavy-duty trucks. The engine is certified to EPA and California standards.

Improvements (engine and vehicle)

  • Increased power (430 hp vs. 420 for MY 2021) for pickups
  • Pickup: 36,610 pounds of towing capability
  • New 8-speed transmission
  • Improved acceleration and transient response at high loads
  • Pickup: 0 – 60 mph in 6.9 seconds vs 8.0 seconds
  • New airflow management design for improved emissions
  • Larger intake/exhaust valves for improved port flow
  • New high-pressure fuel delivery system and new fuel pump
  • New VGT delivers intelligent condition-based power output
  • Cold-start management improved with advanced glow plugs
  • Improved serviceability
  • Certified to US EPA and CARB standards

What we don’t know (yet)

No details have been released yet on the emissions control system. Likely it retains the previous generation system (DOC, DPF, SCR, AmOx catalyst) and that it does not certify to MY 2024 California low NOx standards – or it would have been called out.
